Thousand Knives - Ryuichi Sakamoto in Seoul, on 2 pianos

Ryuichi Sakamoto's live concerts in Seoul on 01/09/2011, came with a public broadcasting initiativ, through USTREAM, which is a great idea. Some 288000 people watched this innovative, beautiful concert in the Seoul concert hall plus in small groups, small parties all over the world. Before the concert it was possible to view rehearsal, preparation and after, the CD preparation for immediate release in iTunes. It is available and beautiful, highly recommended.
This video features the composition of Ryuichi Sakamoto, "Thousand Knives". This was the title song of his first solo album in 1978. As Sakamoto's compositions in general this song also has many versions, and here it is interesting to see the interaction between the pre-programmed piano and Sakamoto's live play on another piano. In this version the composition sounds almost like classical music, but the original was totally different, pioneering electronic music. In each decade he gives a totally different arrangement and different style. This song became also an international hit in 1979. presented in LA first by the pioneering electronic music group of Sakamoto, "The Yellow Magic Orchestra".
