Famed for his artworks especially those commissioned by American comic book publishers DC Comics and Marvel Comics including Japanese video game developer Capcom, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau has now teamed up with Swiss watch Manufacture Armin Strom to create collectible horological pieces of art.

Stanley “Artgerm” Lau is an illustrator, designer and concept artist. Better known by his handle, Artgerm, Lau has designed and drawn covers depicting well-known comic book characters such as Batgirl, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Spiderman, the Thing and The Incredible Hulk.

Artgerm is also the co-founder and creative director of Imaginary Friends Studios (IFS).

The limited series wristwatch creations are Artgerm’s very first collaboration with a luxury watch brand.

There are three models for the Armin Strom X Artgerm wristwatches. The first is “Animal Instinct” named after a character created by Artgerm. Animal Instinct is about the rawness and survival instincts of a person. It symbolises someone who is courageous and fearless when facing difficulties and challenges, explains Artgerm.

On the Armin Strom X Artgerm watch, Animal Instinct is depicted on the dial, having been reproduced via a specialised and patented micro-printing process.

Animal Instinct’s hands are symbolic. “I wanted my first luxury watch to resonate with collectors who see the same sense of controlled power and determination they wield in their hands; and through those very hands that claw through any obstacles and towards success, towards the light,” says Artgerm.

The Armin Strom X Artgerm “Animal Instinct” watch is equipped with the Calibre AMW11 manual-winding movement beating at 18,000 VPH with five days of power reserve and features decorated plates and bridges. Fans of Artgerm fans will instantly recognise his engraved signature on the bezel lip.

“Hand-drawn and handmade – we are seeing two forms of art in symbiosis of the mechanical and the aesthetic, combined into a single unique creation,” says Serge Michel, founder and owner of Armin Strom.

Limited to 15 pieces and each priced at SGD15,890 inclusive of tax, the Armin Strom X Artgerm “Animal Instinct” watch is available online at www.sincerewatch.com. Each piece will be presented with a full-sized canvas print of Animal Instinct autographed by Artgerm.
