At the Tech Capital's Infra AI Summit held in Athens, Dr. Kyriacos Sabatakakis, CEO of Accenture Greece, shared insights on the intersection of artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and corporate digital transformation. During the interview, Sabatakakis outlined how the event has fostered dialogue among industry leaders, particularly around pressing concerns such as power and connectivity access, data infrastructure, and the ongoing digital expansion driven by AI.

A central theme of his commentary was the readiness of large corporations to adopt AI at scale. While there is enthusiasm, Sabatakakis noted that cost remains a barrier that must be addressed before widespread adoption can occur. He emphasised that Accenture’s role involves not only identifying the challenges, but also highlighting the opportunities AI presents for large enterprises to transform their operations fundamentally.

Another major point was the growing trend toward sovereign cloud infrastructure, particularly in Europe. Driven by regulatory requirements and data residency concerns, countries are increasingly prioritising the development of national cloud systems. This trend, he noted, had begun some years ago but is now gaining significant momentum.

On the broader impact of AI, Sabatakakis predicted that AI will become embedded in daily life, and will redefine how people work and interact. This shift will, in turn, place unprecedented demands on infrastructure. He added that AI does not function effectively in silos — it needs integrated data and cross-functional collaboration within organisations. Therefore, the journey of reinvention for enterprises will also require dismantling internal barriers to fully utilise AI’s potential.
