Breaking update for commuters in Karnataka: The transport staff have decided to suspend their ongoing strike, bringing temporary relief to daily passengers. According to Jai Devraj, senior director of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), the government has now agreed to consider some of the staff demands, leading to this pause in the strike.
The JAC emphasized that this decision is in the best interest of transport workers, while still keeping pressure on the government to fulfill all pending requests. Staff unions have been given a 10-day timeline by the government to review and act on remaining demands. The committee will closely monitor progress and ensure that the workers’ concerns are addressed fully.
“ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 2 ರಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಈಡೇರದಿದ್ರೆ, ನಾವು ಮುಷ್ಕರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇವೆ,” Jai Devraj stated, highlighting that the strike may resume if the government fails to meet expectations. Meanwhile, commuters are advised to continue using public transport as usual, as KSRTC and BMTC buses resume operations.
This pause demonstrates the importance of negotiation and dialogue between government authorities and employee unions, ensuring smooth public transport services while safeguarding workers’ rights. Authorities are expected to maintain transparency and update the public on the progress regarding salary arrears and other pending demands.
