Faith without action is dead and works without faith is also dead. So, both is required, faith that is born from a promise, i.e grace in the heart which will always produce the right action.

Every promise of God is a yes and a Amen.

2 Corinthians 1:20
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Whatever God has already done from his side it is a 'yes' when I say 'Amen' I agree that whatever He has done is applicable for me and that response of mine, when I say Amen there is a birth.

This promise is sealed by the blood of Jesus and is given to me as a free gift and that is grace.

Allow the promise of God to change the test into a testimony.
