Bloatware (also known as potentially unwanted programs) is bogus software preinstalled by retailers or manufacturers. They usually get incentives from developers for pushing their products and therefore, can sell the devices cheaper. The downside of these deals is that you get a gadget cluttered with unwanted apps that slow it down.

You can also get bloatware by visiting shady websites and downloading from them. While most of it slows down your machine or floods you with annoying ads and pop-ups, some bloatware can track you and collect your data.
