Raphael The Don is an artist, producer and songwriter born and raised in Jamaica. Tropical fusion is his style of music that balances the inspiration of dancehall and reggae, alongside relatable song-writing with substance and melodic feel good music that’s relevant to his listeners today.

His objective- to continue a universal and pioneering approach to Jamaican music, following the footsteps of the likes of Bob Marley, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Busta Rhymes, Koffee, Proteje, and Chronixx.

Born in St Ann, then moving on to Portmore and Kingston, he’s had his fair share of his own unique experiences. He’s a chef by trade and continues to indulge in this hobby to this day alongside his music. He aims to be part of a Jamaican legacy, which is well known for its sports accolades, their style, culture and food- but he wants to push the boundaries further.

He feels there’s more to the island and the new generation- the people, the culture, and its way of life, which via his sound he feels theres a different view and story to tell, alongside topics that no matter where you’re from- it’s relatable. His sound follows the Jamaican influence and it’s influence in the expansion of other genre’s such as Afro-Beats and Reggaeton, and feels a place that is his home, which is small in landscape, but big in influence, needs to reclaim more of a leading role in this movement of music and culture which is all over the world.

He was always motivated by doing something different, knowing that being a pioneer in something can inspire people to do what you feel is positively necessary, and that you don’t always have to do things the way it’s been done before.

He has had a string of releases dating from 2015 when he first started his journey musically. Of late, he’s made strides internationally via his popular releases ‘Do What You Want, ‘L.I.F.E’ and more recently ‘Why Me’, which has taken a huge liking to from fans internationally with its feature in a number of YouTube Vlog campaigns, a personal best of recorded Shazams internationally, and its addition to over 145 Spotify playlists. The sound of ‘Why Me’ further expanded his fan base with the most notable listeners coming from Canada, the UK, the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.

Going forward, he continues to work on projects with his long-time producer ‘Jingoception’ and has four releases for the remainder of 2020 entitled ‘Girls’, ‘Pree’, ‘Quicksand’, and ‘Handle It’ which he’ll continue to release independently.
