Hey everyone, I think I'm starting to get back into my routine even though I'm still just as busy or even busier than before, but I'll still keep trying to upload content...maybe a tutorial of one of my very old original tricks that I made back in 2002. Anyways...the review!


The YoYoEmpire The Edge 2 (Not to be confused with YoYoFactory's Edge) is a bimetal yoyo that features what I'm assuming is a stainless steel ring right under the rim of the yoyo. The first Edge from YoYoEmpire is the exact same yoyo, but as a monometal.


First impressions...it's heavy. Really heavy, but it's still a great yoyo. So great that this was the yoyo that I chose and used for my Online World YoYo Contest (OWYYC) 2021. The weight is definitely geared towards the rim section of the throw. But even with all that focus onto the rim, it still has a little bounce to it...sort of. If it wasn't as heavy, I feel that this would be an incredibly powerful and floaty yoyo, but that's not the case here.


You can really feel each string hit whenever the yoyo lands, so you'll have to get the string ready to react and change the direction of the yoyo as you play with it. It's also very smooth and stable even if the design doesn't look to have a lot of central axis support.


Although the weight and power works well together, it's also the drawback for this yoyo as trying to do horizontal play on this is really tough. You are trying to work against gravity. Although it's W shaped profile does help a little, it's still not a yoyo to practice horizontals on.


In short, I honestly really love this yoyo. It's definitely in my top 10. Yes it's not perfect, but it works so well with my playing style.


The Edge 2 feels like (70R/30C) which is the highest rim weight distributed yoyo I've reviewed so far. It's so focused on the rim that I've gotten bitten (cut) by "THE EDGE" of the yoyo on the top of my hand a few times. Yes pun intended.
