Foam and Sand is the ambient project of award-winning composer Robot Koch. The project started during the lockdown in 2020 and organically grew under the radar until it was officially announced in 2021. Foam and Sand uses tape recordings of slowed-down pianos, modular synths, and other sonic sources to create these warm and organic ambient tracks.
The signature sound is created with tape loops that magnify all the beautiful irregularities of a cassette tape that the artist shapes into hazy ambient creations which are intended to highlight the interconnectedness of life.
With recent support from Dummy Mag, KEXP, Echoes, ByteFM , KCRW, and NTS, the new project has a growing audience of listeners worldwide who enjoy these hazy ambient creations that incorporate both a sense of nostalgia and futurism in their holistic sound design.
