The National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts® (NACVA®) is the world’s leader for a quarter century in education in the areas of valuations of privately owned enterprises (business valuations) and financial litigation, which through forensic accounting techniques and other financial forensic applications and methodologies, is used to determine financial damages and assessments in a wide range of scenarios. The NACVA also certifies people who want to specialize and make or supplement a career in these fields.
NACVA established the Academic Support Headquarters site as a place where academicians can converge for a variety of purposes, but mainly to support them in developing and promoting curriculum and courses on subjects at the universities and colleges where they teach in departments of business—most often accounting, finance, economics, or Masters in Business Administration. Currently, NACVA offers a robust program of support to academics interested in, or currently offering, training in the business valuation (BV) arena. Students receiving a passing grade qualify to be a candidate for NACVA’s prestigious and internationally recognized Certified Valuation Analyst® (CVA®) designation, the only valuation credential accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies®, a division of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence™. This turnkey program provides a semester-long curriculum with a syllabus, written materials, PowerPoint slides, case studies, homework assignments, periodic and mid-term exams, and a final exam. Financial Litigation (FL) will soon follow, with the release of materials planned for 2019.
NACVA has also formed an Academic Committee (AC) comprised of academicians employed at some of the top institutions in our country, by leading business valuation analysts who bridge the academic perspective with practitioner and real-world insight. It is with this combined wisdom and insight that the ASH site has come together and, where herein, you can find all the support you need to develop or improve BV curriculum at your university/college. The navigation to the left will direct you to answers to your questions; if not found, either NACVA Headquarters (HQ) or our AC will promptly address your questions, and if necessary, seek to find quick solutions to your needs. We realize that every institution is unique and NACVA understands the need to adapt quickly and widen the range of supplemental materials required within academia as those teaching the curriculum perceive is needed. In other words, you are in charge.
Lari B. Masten, MSA, CPA, ABV, CFF, CVA, CPVA ABAR, MAFF and Peter L. Lohrey, PhD, CVA, CDBV discuss the program and how it benefits students to gain a competitive edge in their careers.
