A short teaser for my YouTube video I’ll be releasing on Sunday, where I’ll be creating pots with the deepest foot-rings I’ve ever made. Yes, these are thrown as one and then the entire solid base is hollowed out, a challenge, but trimming is probably what I’ve spent the last few years doing most, so an extraordinarily amusing challenge.

It theory these could easily be made in two parts. First the bowl portions are thrown, then the feet, thereafter the two components are scored and slipped together and far less turning needs to be done, but this method comes with its own challenges too. The join can crack and the objects need to be dried slowly, whereas these are quick to throw and only a somewhat irritating to trim, there’s technique to it, but once complete they can be left out to dry without the fear of any splits from forming.

And once again… IT’S NOT A GOBLET, but rather a stemmed bowl.
