The Qodosen DX-286 backstory and my review: Is this the best DXing radio right now?

Описание к видео The Qodosen DX-286 backstory and my review: Is this the best DXing radio right now?

This is my personal reflection on the Qodosen DX-286 and its predecessor, the SR-286. The DX-286 is exactly the same radio as the SR-286, with only some small shortcut changes and one other change that I picked up, it has a fast scanning function on SW (100 kHz steps), which I haven't encountered on the SR-286.

In this video I am not repeating what I have already said about the Qodosen SR-286 in other videos. What is valid for the SR-286, is valid for the DX-286. This video is, rather, my own personal reflection on how much I enjoy the Qodosen DX-286 (and the SR-286) and how these radios fit in perfectly in my own style of DXing. I also do FM, MW and SW band scans and you can see how the radio picks up very distant stations in all bands, even from more than 8000 km away on MW!

The Qodosen DX-286 is not for everyone. It is not for those who enjoy SSB listening, it does not have a sync function. It uses a micro USB charging jack, not USB type C. It is for people who enjoy broadcast DXing. For people who enjoy chasing distant FM, SW and MW signals. It manages to catch these signals very well. Also LW, but I haven't been able to catch LW signals here in South Africa yet. Truth is, if a signal is not there, not even the best radio will capture it.

It is packed with features. Many bandwidth settings for AM and FM signals, internal and external antenna switching for MW, the usual clock and sleep timer functions, antenna amplifier, signal attenuator, many different tuning modes, huge memory bank and more.

I spoke by email to Mr Dean Zeng, the brother of the person who designed and engineered the radio, Mr Dengping Zeng. Mr Dengping Zeng used to work at Tecsun and then set up Redsun radio. I asked Mr Dean Zeng some of the questions you have, and I asked him to tell me about the history and development of this radio, and about the company, Qodosen.

In this video you will find answers to some of the big questions:

Why is there no SSB on the Qodosen DX-286?
Why does it ship without a battery?
What is the story behind this radio?
Who is the company, Qodosen?

I have made many videos of the Qodosen SR-286 and there is also a video where I compare the new Qodosen DX-286 to the SR-286.

There are many more videos on my channel about the Qodosen DX-286 and SR-286, you can view them in the Qodosen playlist.

You can see the new, much cheaper version, on Amazon: https://a.co/d/8weYpos (I do not earn affiliate links income from Amazon, I am just sharing this as a service to my viewers). It still comes without a battery, so you will need to buy one. But it now comes with a carry case.

You can read the manual here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11Zh6...
