Launched at the Care Awards 2019, this book tells the story of CareTech, beginning with the origins of the Sheikh family, Haroon and Farouq’s childhood in both Kenya and England and charts their professional path as they built the company up to the impressive organisation it is today.
As Farouq says, ‘It tells the story of CareTech through the words of those that lived it’ and that is certainly true. A wealth of employees, those there from the beginning and those who have joined in later years, all shared their experiences.
From the earliest support workers in the 90s, to the PAs, the service users themselves and the Finance, HR, Compliance and IT departments, everyone provided their own unique perspective. These frank interviews, and a stunning selection of photographs, anchor the detailed narrative and breathe life into the factual points of the journey.
From the first successful tender in Barnet, the building of ClockTower Mews, through to floating the company on the stock market, and most recently, the acquisition of Cambian which has doubled the size of the business and expanded our portfolio of schools and fostering services.
25 Years of Extraordinary Days is an inspiring and impressive read, two determined brothers who not only took on the world and won, but who made a pledge – to provide the best care possible for the vulnerable – and fulfilled it.
