UNIMOG Offroading the KARUNJIE TRACK - BEST Scenery in the Kimberley! Pentecost to Wyndham (Eps.32)

Описание к видео UNIMOG Offroading the KARUNJIE TRACK - BEST Scenery in the Kimberley! Pentecost to Wyndham (Eps.32)

This week we take you on a wild ride through the Karunjie Track. This track is a "shortcut from the Pentecost river crossing to the town of Wyndham in the remote Kimberly region of Western Australia. If you have a 4wd DO NOT skip this track!
We begin our journey with another beautiful night next to the Pentecost river, soaking in the views of the red glowing mighty Coburn ranges and yet another wonderful Kimberley sunset.
The next morning we hit the track and it doesn't take long (about 20m) until things start to get a bit bumpy. The track meanders next to the Pentecost river for a while until you get to a gate that warns you about the perils of the track. Also as a general rule of thumb, leave gates the way you found them!
The next hour or so we spent traversing dried creek beds and rocky inclines as well as the occasional patch of sand or bull dust. While the track was usually easy to follow there were a few times where the main track ended on an untraversable washed out face which resulted in backtracking until we found the new track around the obstacle. We think, every wet season the track changes as new parts get washed away meaning a new path has to be forged.
And then all of a sudden you hit the mighty mud flats! The track along here is easy going, usually pretty flat and allows for a good travelling speed. This is also the best place to really take in the views of the Coburn ranges! Hopefully you can enjoy some of our drone shots.
The last bit gets rougher again, nothing crazy but there are again some washed out sections that require a bit of attention. Then after opening and closing a few gates THAT'S IT! Karunjie Track done!
From the gate you can either head to Diggers Rest station which offers camping at certain times of the year, or back to Wyndham on the King River Road. A short ways down the road is another Prison Boab tree where Aboriginal prisoners were held on their way to Wyndham jail.
Also along this stretch of road are some extensive rock art collections and the freshwater supply of Wyndham, Muchalabra Dam. The road finally crosses a huge mudflat and joins up with the Great Northern Highway, where we inflate our tires to show you some of what Wyndham has to offer! But for that you will have to wait till next week.
