Circuit City had a lot of reasons for their failure, and often people point to their attempt at a video rental format: DIVX. The whole thing was a disaster that failed within a year, but truthfully it wasn't a major factor in their fall. It was, however, an interesting tale of totally ignoring what the consumers actually wanted out of DVDs.
