Exploring Balikpapan on foot

Описание к видео Exploring Balikpapan on foot

And it kept raining almost all day on Thursday.
So I decided to go to the food factory of the neighbors because it wasn't that busy because of the weather.
While I was watching how it worked, someone came up to me and asked if I wanted to take away or eat there, I said that I was going to eat in the restaurant, then I got an ice hockey puck pushed into my hands with the table number on it.
Scanned the menu and filled in that I would pay at the cashier. After half an hour I still had nothing, not even my tea, according to Martin and Hendrik the waiting times here can be 2 to 3 hours but now it is quiet and my neighbors who came later already have food.
At one point my puck started beeping, so I asked what I had to do, I showed the boy my order and that I had filled in pay at the cash register, they sometimes don't accept my credit card in those payment apps of the restaurants.
He came later and walked with me to the cash register where I paid, and after another 20 minutes I had my food, I had almost started on my Flip flops in the meantime.
Strange way of working or something went wrong, because normally you eat first and then you pay when you leave at the cash register.
A bit strange if you first have to go a long way in this big restaurant to your table to scan, then order your food and then have to go back to the cash register and then back to your table again.
Anyway I experienced the food factory, the food was fortunately reasonable, I had ordered spicy level 4, I already suspected that it was spicy 🥵 levels but wasn't sure. Level 4 is ridiculous most people said later. I've heard that before. My tea panas was of course no longer panas, fortunately it is tropical here so it didn't become ice tea. Price €1.65 that won't make you much poorer
Finding things out is a time-consuming job here, people know almost nothing, speak very little English, all websites are in Indonesian and translation often fails due to the very bad wifi.
Due to the very bad weather I went to the hairdresser and in the afternoon I walked a little round the kampung when it was dry for a while.
In the supermarket they sell the cheap Mister potato as Pringles, normally they are 3 x as cheap, meter-high vases are offered for sale, I wonder if they are ever sold.
Of course I also came across the Proboscis monkey here, which in Indonesia is called Bekantan and you'll never guess, also Orang Belanda (Dutch) or Dutch monkey 🐒. Because we are supposed to have a big nose and also a big belly like the Proboscis monkey. I looked it up but neither applies to me, and I think there are countries south of the Netherlands that on average have a bigger gamble. Many people call me Mister or Sir here, and many children say "kakek" (grandpa), yes, if only it were true. Maybe I am but I will never know.
I say goodbye 👋 😊
