I am on a service call where a fire alarm went off the night before. I was asked to clean up and maintain this steam boiler. The boiler was installed 2 years earlier and never serviced. Therefore I start by draining and flushing out the boiler. I remove the steam controls and find pipes/ pigtails that are plugged almost closed if not closed. Also, I remove the sight glass. Due to the glass being dirty the boiler was overfilled. After cleaning out the boiler I put everything back together and test out the boiler.
