This video series shows you how to cook during power outages no matter what the reason for the outage. It shows you how to make the French Toast in Unit 6 using off the grid cooking method.

French Toast

2 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 heaping teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 pinches of sugar
white bread
butter to cook with

You will need a 9 x 13 metal cake pan, a wire cooling rack, and tea light candles. Put tea light candles in cake pan. Make sure wicks are standing straight up. Light the candles and put the wire cooling rack on top of the cake pan forming a burner. You need enough candles to cover the bottom of the pan. Put a 8 inch pan with lid on cooling rack to warm up. Beaten two eggs add to pie plate. Add milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar to eggs. Mix well. Preheat your pan. Add butter to pan once heated. Quickly dip and flip the bread. You don't want it soggy it will break apart if you do. Drain excess egg mixture off then put in pan. Cover and cook 4 minutes. Flip bread over and cover and cook another 4 minutes. Uncover and cook 2 more minutes on each side or until golden brown.
