On April 6, 2025, Bloomington Police Officer Swartzentruber observed a vehicle run a red traffic light. Officer Swartzentruber initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 22-year-old woman. She didn't have her driver's license with her and it turns out it was suspended. The police report indicates that Officer Swartzentruber could smell alcohol coming from the woman's breath. She was asked to step out of the vehicle was she was detained in handcuffs due to the suspended driver's license. She was also asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests (FSTs), but she refused. She was transported to the Bloomington Police Station, where she was given another opportunity to participate in FSTs, but she again refused. She was then advised that she was also being charged with Driving Under the Influence. She was afforded numerous opportunities to submit to a breath test and she refused each time. Throughout the encounter, she was vulgar, insulting, and called the officers numerous derogatory and racist names. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
