Is The M6A2E1 Fictional?

Gaijin has decided to add the M6A2E1 US heavy tank to War Thunder for the next battlepass season, and it's stirred things up a bit. Some people are calling the tank paper, AKA fictional. I'm here to explain why they're saying that, the history behind the tank, and just how useful this thing will actually be in the game.
