Once upon a time, in a beautiful green forest, there lived many animals. They all lived happily together. In this forest, there was a big lake with fresh, clean water. All the animals drank water from this lake.
Near the lake, there lived a small rabbit named Rolo. Rolo was very clever and kind. He helped all the small animals in the forest.
One day, a huge elephant named Goru came to the forest. Goru was very big and very strong. But he had one big problem – he was very greedy. He always wanted everything for himself.
When Goru saw the beautiful lake, he said, “This lake is perfect! From today, this lake is MINE! Only I will drink water from here. All other animals must go away!”
All the animals became very scared. The deer ran away. The monkeys climbed up the trees. The birds flew to other places. Everyone was afraid of the big, strong elephant.
But little Rolo, the rabbit, did not run away. He sat quietly under a tree and started thinking.
“This is not right,” Rolo thought. “This lake belongs to everyone. One animal cannot take it for himself. I must do something.”
The next morning, Rolo went to Goru the elephant.
“Good morning, Sir Elephant,” said Rolo politely.
Goru looked down at the tiny rabbit. “What do you want, little creature?” he asked in a loud voice.
“Sir, I came to tell you something important,” said Rolo. “I heard that there is ANOTHER elephant in this forest. He says that HE is the strongest elephant, not you!”
Goru became very angry. “WHAT? Another elephant? Impossible! I am the strongest! Where is this elephant? I will show him who is the real king!”
“He lives near the old well in the deep forest,” said Rolo. “But be careful, sir. He is very big and very dangerous.”
Goru became more angry. “I am not afraid of anyone! Take me to him RIGHT NOW!”
Rolo started walking, and the angry elephant followed him. They walked and walked until they reached an old, deep well in the middle of the forest.
“Where is this elephant?” shouted Goru.
“He is hiding inside this well,” said Rolo. “Look inside and you will see him.”
Goru walked to the well and looked down into the water. And what did he see? He saw another elephant looking back at him!
(Of course, it was just his own reflection in the water, but Goru did not understand this.)
“So YOU are the one!” shouted Goru. “You think you are stronger than me?”
The reflection did not answer. This made Goru more angry.
“Why are you copying me?” Goru shouted again. The reflection seemed to shout back.
Goru became so angry that he jumped into the well to fight with the “other elephant.”
Goru fell into the deep water. He tried to climb out, but the well was too deep and the walls were too slippery.
“Help! Help!” cried Goru. “I cannot get out! Please help me!”
Rolo looked down at the elephant in the well.
“Now do you understand?” said Rolo calmly. “Your greed brought you here. You wanted everything for yourself. You did not think about other animals. You thought your strength made you the king, but real strength is not about power – it is about kindness and sharing.”
Goru felt very ashamed. “You are right, little rabbit. I was wrong. I was greedy and selfish. Please forgive me. If you help me get out of here, I promise I will never be greedy again. I will share the lake with everyone.”
Rolo thought for a moment. He believed that everyone deserves a second chance.
“Okay,” said Rolo. “I will help you. But remember your promise.”
Rolo called all the animals of the forest. The monkeys brought long vines. The deer brought strong ropes. All the animals worked together. They tied the ropes and vines together and threw them down into the well.
Slowly, slowly, they pulled Goru out of the well. It took many hours, but finally, Goru came out safely.
Goru looked at all the animals who helped him. He felt very grateful.
“Thank you, everyone,” said Goru. “I am sorry for my bad behavior. From today, I promise to be kind and to share everything with everyone. The lake belongs to all of us.”
All the animals were very happy. They forgave Goru.
From that day, Goru the elephant became a good friend to all the animals. He never acted greedy again. He learned that sharing is more important than having everything for yourself.
And little Rolo? He became famous in the forest as the wisest animal who taught everyone that wisdom is stronger than power.
