Lapping zone in Beams

This video shows overlapping zone in beams. Overlapping of steel bars are necessary to transfer the load through the structural member, but it should be provided in a specific region. In this lecture, we tried to explain where lapping of bars should be avoided for beams. Generally, where there is maximum bending moment in the beam, lapping should be avoided there. For example at mid span we have always maximum bending moment so we should avoid lapping of steel bars there. Also in case of negative bending moment at the supports we should avoid lapping of steel bars. For more details please watch full video.
