The waters of Lake Ontario were a wee bit nippy today, but that didn’t stop dozens of people, including CHCH News’ Matt Ingram from taking a plunge for charity.

The second annual Keller Williams Polar Bear Swim raised about $10,000 for the Be The Change In Your Own Backyard Foundation, and the money is all going to support the Boys and Girls Club of Hamilton and Halton.

Janna Frederick of KW Realty organized the swim, “30 seconds of some minor, minor discomfort for a lot of good we can do in our community.”

Frederick worked with the Be The Change In Your Own Backyard Foundation to raise donations.

Daniel Corcoran co-founder of Be The Change In Your Own Backyard Foundation says, “being involved with the boys and girls club and seeing so many specifically small children in need for stuff that’s just basic like just being able to eat and have a meal… We feel as a group we’re doing the best we can to make a difference.”

The Boys and Girls Club of Hamilton and Halton says the money raised will be used to support after-school active living programs.

If you weren’t able to participate but you’d still like to donate contact Keller Williams Realty in Hamilton.
