The Center for Research on Population and Health at the American University of Beirut (AUB) Lebanon, the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada, and the Institut National de Nutrition et de Technologie Alimentaire (INNTA) in Tunisia organized a 3-part virtual webinar series. This series focused on the SCALE study, which aims to inform context-specific interventions targeting childhood overweight in urban settings of Greater Beirut and Greater Tunis. The ultimate goal is to promote the development of food environments that enable healthy eating habits among children and their families.

In this video, Dr. Shady Elbassuoni talks about the development of a culturally acceptable machine-learning-based data-collection tool and the utilization of wearable cameras to capture schoolchildren’s exposure to food. Through this innovative approach, the study uncovers valuable insights into the cues influencing food choices and eating behaviors of children during their daily trajectories in Lebanon and Tunisia.
