A personal interview with Bobby Darin, star of "Come September" (open-end interview, 1961)

Описание к видео A personal interview with Bobby Darin, star of "Come September" (open-end interview, 1961)

Radio stations were given these open-end interview records with answers from the famous person and gaps where the questions should be so that the local DJ could read the questions and make listeners believe he was interviewing the celebrity in the flesh. The script questions and answers was printed either in a sheet of paper that accompanied the record or in the paper sleeve.

Universal International released at least one of such records to promote their 1961 film 'Come September'', starring Rock Hudson, Gina Lollobrigida, Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin. There's an interview with Sandra Lollobrigida on the A side (DCLA 1380), and an interview with Bobby Darin on the B side (DCLA 1399). Being a Darin fan, I've chosen to share his interview by means of this video.

I'm very sorry for the poor quality of the sound in the first third of the interview. My copy of this red-vinyl record (which is lacking the script, or I would have copied the questions in the description) has an obnoxious scratch which is responsible for all the loud clicks. It even makes the record skip most of the times it's played, and I've only been able to record the sound for this video by a miraculous mixture of the right pickup needle, arm weight, and lots of finger crossing.

Happy 81th birthday today, Bobby!
