BOND HILL, Ohio (WKRC) - He was eating breakfast in his car when he was shot and killed. Now, police are trying to find the gunman.

Thirty-seven-year-old Ronald Williams was shot through his car window four times. Cincinnati Police said the gunman is just over 6-feet tall with a larger build.

Mitch Morris watched Williams grow up.

"He run with my little cousins and them. Always just playing basketball and just trying to do the right thing. Reached out to me, came through our program, graduated from the program trying to change his life around, so I always respected him for that," said Morris.

Now, Morris said the Avondale neighborhood is hurting.

"That's a young man that grew up in the neighborhood, you know?" said Morris.

Pastor Peterson Mingo said he saw that pain first hand.

He said, "At the hospital, you should have seen the people who came when they found out. It was more than 200 people who came up to the hospital when they heard that he had been shot. He was all about family. He loved his family. He's got kids who just adored him. And one of his grandson's birthday parties was today, matter of fact, and they had to cancel it because of this."

Williams' friends are frustrated.

"When is enough going to be enough for us to come off the sidelines and really get involved?" said Morris.

His death seems senseless.

"It just speaks to the climate in which we live. Sometimes people do things to you because of jealousy, some because of maybe mistaken identity, and I can't think of any reason anybody would want to take this young man away from this world," said Mingo.

Williams' death makes nine homicides since June 1.

"There's a who-next type of attitude on the streets. People are on edge and people who have never carried weapons before are beginning to carry them, and that's a shame when you feel unsafe in your own neighborhood," said Mingo.

If you think there has been a spike in gun violence in the city, Police Chief Eliott Isaac said no. By the end of May, there had been 16 homicides in the city. That's down from the three-year average to date of 28.

To help police track down the suspect, you need to be on the lookout for an early 2000s gray Honda Odyssey with tinted windows and an Ohio temporary tag.
