Скачать или смотреть 2023 Subaru WRX Gets a DONUT SPARE TIRE…….(this is how the car SHOULD have been delivered)

My 2023 Subaru WRX is the USA version, and unfortunately arrived without a spare tire (donut) in the trunk. In it's place there was some goop and an inflator. Wonderful- just how should I use the goop and inflator if I get a blowout?
So absurd. I can see if the car had runflats but it doesnt.

So my solution was to mimic what the Canadian spec WRX which is shipped with a 205/50R17 tire. I guess Canada doesn’t use “donut” spares so it was almost impossible to find that size tire. I was willing to buy a new one directly from Subaru Canada but again, they don’t sell parts like they do in the USA. Canadian websites merely said “visit your local dealer to buy parts” rather than having links to buy them online as almost every US dealer does.
So I went on this “tire comparison” site https://tiresize.com/comparison/ and punched in 205/50/17 and looked for a donut size that was very close in specifications. Turns out 145/70/17, which is what Subaru used for all past wrx and sti is about the same size.

A 155/70R17 donut from a Camry is actually slightly closer in size to my oem 245/40R18, and has the same bolt pattern, but truth be told I thought I had a better chance of the Subaru tire fitting in the well with the styrofoam. I was afraid the Toyota tire might be slightly too large and sit up too high.

Last thing. A Canadian dealer made a video about the Canadian spec Wrx and he mentioned the manual said to ONLY USE THE TEMPORARY TIRE IN THE REAR OF THE CAR; so if you blow out a front tire, take the good tire from the back, put it in front, and put the donut on the back. So I suggest following that recommendation.
