I Am Made of Memories - (Score) - Tyler Welton-Stewart

My full symphonic poem inspired by Madeline Miller's Song of Achilles.
Scored for flute, bass flute, oboe, clarinet in b-flat, french horn, trombone, timpani, glockenspiel, vibraphone, treble lute, harp, piano, choir, and strings.

I AM MADE OF MEMORIES is a symphonic poem based on Madeline Miller’s 2011 re-telling of the Greek tragic tale of Achilles and Patroclus. After reading the novel for the first time in 2021 I was struck by how emotional I found myself. Miller’s writing stayed with me for months and the book one of the best I have ever read. I was profoundly moved with how real their story felt despite being blown up on a mammoth scale. In a tale surrounded by warring gods, and mythical creatures, at it’s heart was a painful tale of two lovers being ripped apart. Clouded by arrogance, pride, and vengeance Achilles loses sight of what is really important and as such, loses his beloved Patroclus in the bloodshed.

To everyone who so kindly left lovely comments on my videos I've posted while writing this music I'm so grateful and so happy I can share the finished product. I was going to write a choral epilogue but the last movement was what got such a wonderful response, I thought it good enough to stand on it's own as the finale. Thank you all again.
