Question: How long will the court process take?

Well, it depends, is my answer. If you take a blood test when you get to the jail, know that blood tests can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months to come from the lab, and that’s a conservative estimate. Then, we have to go to court. At court, we have an arraignment, we plead not guilty, we get trial dates. So, I tell people on a blood test, you’re looking at 12 to 18 months. Now, a breath test, where you blow in the machine down at the jail, goes much faster, because the results are known immediately. So, I tell people 8 to 12 months, give or take a little bit, is the process and how long it takes.
