This is the first real outing with the new Canon R5, when I had changed a few settings, to customize it more to my liking. I have to finetune it even more, I guess it will take its time.
I started with a visit to our forest bird-feeding station, affectionately called Tweety's Diner, where I had the pleasure to take video and photos of many of the guests. Worth mention are Long-tailed Tit (Stjärtmes), Eurasian Siskin (Grönsiska), Hawfinch (Stenknäck) and Chaffinch (Bofink).
I heard lots of spring-bird calls from the nearby creek (Fyrisån) and decided to stroll down to the birding tower at Övre Föret, to have a look. In the spring-flooded Alder & Willow grove there, I spotted a furtive bird: a Common Moorhen (Rörhöna). That was a great object to try out the autofocus settings on the R5, I soon realized I had to switch to Manual when taking video. When taking photos it worked out well. I spent a long time following the Moorhen, which was very busy foraging in the tangled undergrowth, while I was taking lots of video :-)
When I was done with that, I checked the open water for ducks. There were plenty, but they kept WAY back on the other side. Typical. There were Common Goldeneye (Knipa), Mallard of course (Gräsand), a sleeping pair of Common Merganser (Storskrake) and at least one male Wigeon (Bläsand). Two Great Cormorant (Storskarv) sat on the usual floating log.
