Welcome back to 'The Review' on Food Lovers TV! We're continuing our journey into Bengaluru's 90s restaurants, revisiting places that shaped the city's culinary landscape and asking: do they still hold their appeal today?
In this episode, we step into Tandoor Bengaluru, a name long associated with North Indian fine-dining since the 90s. For decades, it was a destination for flavorful curries, tender kebabs, and fragrant biryanis, known for a distinct dining experience and ample portions—the sort of place ideal for sharing with friends and family.
I sat down for lunch, taking in the ambiance, including those familiar murals on the walls. I tasted my way through a selection of their well-known dishes: starting with the creamy Paneer Malmali Kebab and the Peshawari Phool Gobi. The Machi Tikka Bulandshahar was chunky, well-spiced, and made of fresh seer fish.
For the main course, the Dal Makhani was a delight—a creamy blend of five lentils, simmered overnight. I also sampled the sweet and tangy Paneer Lababdar Masala, a homestyle Murg Handi Punjabi, and a rustic Butter Chicken. The Lucknowi Motiya Gosht Pulao, with its mutton chunks and mince pearls in a subtly flavored aromatic rice, was quite interesting. I finished my meal with the Badam Kheer.
But the big question remains: Is Tandoor Bengaluru still the North Indian King it was in the 90s? Has it managed to maintain its quality and place in Bengaluru's evolving food scene?
