Mt Washington Cog Railway cab ride

Описание к видео Mt Washington Cog Railway cab ride

We are taking a ride on the Mount Washington Cog Railway, which takes passengers from the base station up to the summit of Mount Washington, at 6288 feet. In this video, we take a ride up the mountain in the cab of steam engine 9, Waumbeck. Presently, the only train of the day to run with a steam engine is the first train of the day; all subsequent trips up the mountain are provided by diesel. In this video, we get many different views; the cab, the fire box, the tender, the down slope of the mountain, looking up towards the summit, seeing the running gears in action, passing trains in the passing siding, and blowing the whistle. We end the video at Waumbeck Tank, which is at an elevation of 3800 feet. The tank provides water to the steam engine as it makes the climb up the mountain. The engine was built in 1986 and has a tender capable of holding 600 gallons of water and 1 ton of coal. Certain parts of the engine are actually 100+ year old vintage pieces, but the boiler itself was built in 1986. Enjoy the sights and sounds from the engine. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The videos were taken on August 30th, 2014.
