This project features a motor which would use excess electricity to pump water from ground tank to an elevated, dedicated tank. This would work as a green alternative to Lithium-ion batteries that pose a serious threat to environment on mining as well as disposal. It would also use waste water as the agent to drive the turbine thus turning waste water to use and preventing the diversion and interference of aquatic ecosystems. This indicates the positive impact of this project on the environment over Lithium-ion batteries or other options to store electricity. This idea is economically feasible. Further, calculation prove its increased efficiency on scaling up for larger prototypes. The stored water at the elevation would contain gravitational potential energy. An outlet placed vertically at the bottom of the elevated tank would be provided directly above a turbine generator which would allow us to control the flow of water at will. The water after generating electricity through the turbine would again reach the ground tank. This ensures that the same water is used throughout multiple cycles ensuring reuse and hence, no need for any new supply of water in case freshwater is used. As the height increases the need for a more voluminous tank decreases.
