Hand Auger Improvements for Shallow Well Digging

If you are digging a shallow well with many pulls or difficult soil, this change can save you a lot of time and energy.
As purchased, the Seymour auger uses additional sections of 3/4" pipe and couplings. It takes time, wrenches and effort. With depth over 25 feet the pipe will begin to flex and give.
Convert your extensions to 1" 11ga square steel tubing and use sections of 1 1/4" 14ga square steel tubing for the couplers. Drill holes in each ends of the sections and use coupler safety pins to secure. Much more stable and simple to remove or add extensions - with no tools.
