Spain took the lead in the second minute after Alex Casasyas found Roc Oliva unmarked in the D for a simple finish.

India equalised when Shivendra Singh touched in Vokkaliga Ramachandra Raghunath's slapped pass in the eleventh minute.

India took the lead after Sandeep's cross was fired into the roof of the net by Mandeep Singh.

David Alegre equalised with a reverse stick effort in the fifty sixth minute to make it 2-2.

There was late drama as Mandeep had the ball in the net but he used his foot; goal initially awarded but cancelled on review. The playoff tie went a shootout.

Roc Oliva scored the decisive penalty after Akashdeep Singh missed for India.
