Propagate Chinese Elm from Cuttings for Bonsai 🌱*EASY*

Описание к видео Propagate Chinese Elm from Cuttings for Bonsai 🌱*EASY*

In this Bonsai Video I show you How To Propagate Chinese Elm from Cuttings for Bonsai. I then show you a tree that was grown as a cutting and how fast it thickened in the space of just two years!

The method of propagation I am showing you is what has always worked for me with Chinese Elm and I believe is the easiest and best way for beginners! Simply take either a heel or nodal cutting from the parent tree, dip the end in some hormone rooting powder (preferably with IBA) and plant the cutting into some soil. The soil mix I planted them into is just a simple mix of ericaceous compost and perlite. Once the cuttings grow roots in just a few weeks time, simply transfer them into larger pots to thicken them faster.

However, in this video as a BONUS, I show you how to also create a CLUMP STYLE BONSAI. If you happen to have a lot of cuttings, this is a great way of making use of them as clump styles are best done when the trees are young so that they can fuse together at the base easier. The clump style that we create is in the form of a MAME Bonsai.

The Chinese Elm as a species is one of the most popular species for Bonsai, especially for beginners as they are very common in big box stores! They are desirable for Bonsai (especially for beginners) as they have a beautiful small leaf profile, are forgiving of minor mistakes in care, grow fast and can also make either an indoor or outdoor tree.
