This selection is organized into four sections. The first 18 measures illustrate the Army's close combat in battle, utilizing two rhythmic elements and a melody. While this section does not have a specific key, it explores harmonies around G minor.
The second section symbolizes the triumphant victory of the battle. It comprises three elements, incorporating two rhythmic components and a melody reminiscent of those in the first section. The brass instruments play a crucial role in this section with their diatonic harmony and homophonic texture. They support the melody and create a fanfare-like effect, enhancing the overall sense of triumph.
The third section is a poignant tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives or are prisoners of war, a moment of deep emotion and respect for their valor. This section features a melody, a choral component, and a rhythmic pattern played by the high winds, all coming together to create a powerful and moving musical expression.
The fourth section, a flamboyant march, is a jubilant link between the ending segments. The consecuent section, with its varied rhythms, captures the exuberant spirit of the victory celebration. At the end, a brief conclusion merges triplets and eighth notes, culminating in a tutti ending that further amplifies the sense of joy and triumph.
