Name, Image and Likeness with HLS professor Peter Carfagna

On Thursday, March 10, 2022, the Harvard Extension Alumni Association (HEAA) and HEAA Midwest Chapter were joined by HLS professor Peter Carfagna and Aaron Caputo, Executive Director of Legal and Client Services at The Superlative Group, Inc. to discuss ‘Name, Image and Likeness’ Monetization Opportunities – and Beyond: the Changing Landscape of Collegiate Athletics.
In this webinar, professor Carfagna and Aaron discussed a variety of topics including:
· What “Name, Image and Likeness” rights can student athletes monetize, after the US Supreme Court’s ruling in NCAA v. Alston (2021)?
· Should NCAA student athletes be paid to play their college sport?
· What does the Supreme Court have to say about that topic in the recently decided Alston case?
After the presentation, Prof. Carfagna and Aaron answered questions from attendees which was moderated by Jill Felicio ALB ’00, ALM ’13, Director of Advancement at Harvard Division of Continuing Education.
