Gynecologists treat a broad range of female medical issues. They spend only a few weeks being trained in infertility. Some doctors may choose to specialize in reproductive problems. To do so, they complete 3 years of training to become reproductive endocrinologists or fertility specialists.

If they pass special certifying exams, then they can be called board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology.

For most patients, some initial fertility tests or even limited fertility treatments can be performed by their gynecologist.
