This 'How to Catch Speckled Trout and Redfish from the Shore video' will get you ready for the spring run of speckled trout on the beaches. It's super fun and easy with artificial lures and just a normal medium/light action rod that you use for light action tackle fishing. Check this vid and give it a try! Here is a more thorough description of tackle and what to do:

Tackle:

Jighead (1/4oz, 3/8oz, and 1/8oz)

Z-Man Paddletail MinnowZ or Any Soft Plastic Swim Bait

Rod - 7ft at least preferably longer if you have it for longer casts like an 8ft or 7'6"

Line - 10 lb test braid - Leader Line - 8 lb or 15 lb test

Technique:

Look for the deep holes - they can be next to piers or just off the beach wherever there are deep spots or holes, like near a sandbar or deep trough. These can be located on google maps. Low Tide you can see these deep holes and it tends to trap much of the bait fish and predator fish.
