The car: 1993 Honda accord automatic

The problem: The D4 light comes on (sometimes intermittently) and the car gets stuck in a higher gear than 1st. That is, it doesn't shift through the gears, but remains in what seems to be 3rd. Manually putting the transmission into 1st works though.

Solution: You can replace the TCM or fix it like we did. What happens on these cars is that over time the two resistors we show in the TCM burn, but the rest of the board is fine. So soldering two new resistors fixes the whole transmission issue.

This applies to all accords of this era, meaning 1990-1993 and perhaps a bit earlier.
