Sanghamitta Day 2022: 1997 Bhikkhuni Ordination 25th Anniversary - Tathaloka Theri (short version)

As part of UTBSI United Theravada Bhikkhuni Sangha International and MBSI Maha Bodhi Society of India's initiative commemorating the 25 year anniversaries of the resurrection and revival of the Theravada Bhikkhuni Sangha, UTBSI Coordinator for Bhikkhuni History/Herstory & Heritage, Ven. Bhikkhuni Tathālokā Mahātherī presented on the November 22nd 1997 Bhikkhunī Ordination at International Meditation Center (IBMC) in Los Angeles, which fell between the 1996 Sarnath Bhikkhuni Ordination and the 1998 Bodhgaya International Bhikkhuni Ordination. As the 1997 IBMC ordination was important but little know, this presentation offers an important contribution to the public collective knowledge of the Theravāda Bhikkhunī revival from the first-hand perspective of one of those bhikkhunīs ordained.
