Winter NAMM 2006: Zoom brings some real (bit) depth to its line of guitar effects processors with the addition of the new, 32-bit ZFX-3 DSP chip.

Three processors based on the ZFX-3 are featured in Gearwire's Zoom guitar effects overview. The G7.1ut offers a plethora of amp and effect models and sports a real 12AX7 tube that can be dialed in to taste. The green A2.1u is an acoustic guitar modeler that includes a built-in drum machine and tuner. The really big one is the G9.2tt. It doubles the fun with two expression pedals and two 12AX7s in a cascading configuration for lots o' distortion.

Common to the line are a 96kHz sampling rate, 24-bit converters, 20Hz - 40kHz frequency response, and of course 32-bit internal processing courtesy of the new ZFX-3 chip. The boxes also sport USB holes and are bundled with Steinberg Cubase LE recording software, so computer-based multi-trackers can lay down all sorts of sounds with a minimum of patching.
