CHICAGO -- From one championship Lebron team to another, Michael Jordan and the 1996 Bulls face Lebron and Kyrie and the 2016 Champs Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern COnference semifinals. Can the 2016 champs defeat the champs 10 years prior to them?

In the first quarter, both teams' superstars struggled from the field with Jordan starting 1/6 and Lebron 2/5. It was their supporting cast that set the tone early, with Pippen shooting 7/9 from the field for 15 pts while Kyrie and Tristan Thompson starring for the Cavs. Tristan was successful on the offensive boards in the 1st, scoring 19 pts while pulling down 7 rebs. THey pretty much cancelled each other with the Cavs gaining a 5pt lead going into the 2nd.


At the start of the 2nd, Michael Jordan shrugged off his 1stQ struggles and found a rhythm in the 2nd. He was hot fast, scoring 10 straight pts for the Bulls to start to put the Bulls neck and neck with the Cavs. Kyrie continued his hot start and scored 10 in the quarter as well as we are all tied at the half, 56-56.

Things remained tight in the 3rd quarter, again as the superstars Lebron and Jordan were struggling on their jumpshots. Supporting case again came to play with Kyrie and JR for the Cavs, and Kukoc for the Bulls. Bulls shot better from the field with better ball movement and they grab a 2-pt lead heading into the 4th and final quarter.

It was a back and forth game thru most of the 4th, until the Bulls got cold around the 4 min mark and couldnt hit their shots. Cavs took advantage and had a 6 pt lead with 4 mins to go. However, they too would go scoreless, and tboth teams slug it out to a 2 pt game with 1:48 to go.

Lebron would score on a fadeaway over Pippen to make it a 4pt game. Jordan would answer back with a huge poster dunk over Thompson as the Bulls try to build momentum. Lebron however responded with a perfect alleyoop to Thompson to bring it back to 4. Jordan would then respond with a jumper at the top of the key. THen James nail a jumphook over Pippen with 26 secs to go to bring it back up to 4. On the next possession, Bulls found Tony Kukoc open at the shoulder for a long 3 which he makes and makes it a 1-pt game with 7.6 secs to go. Bulls foul and would send JR SMith to the line. He misses the first but makes the second.

2-pt game with 3.5 secs left. Bulls call timeout. They just needed to score to tie it. BUT JOrdan went for thew win. He got himself open at the top of the key and hit a 3-pointer with 1.2 secs left!

ANOTHER HERO MOMENT for MJ!

Or so we thought..

Kyrie led the Cavs with 26 pts. JR SMith was next with 19. Lebron underperformed, scoring just 16 pts on 6/15 shooting, to go along with 8 assts 4 stls. 6 cavs players were in double figures. Tristan THompson had a double-double with 14 pts 15 rebs.


Jordan ended with 46 pts 6 rebs 11 assts. Pippen added 25 pts 5 rebs 5 assts. Kukoc scored 21. Rodman had 15 boards.
