For my art history project I’ll be creating a Greek temple based on chapter 5 Greece dedicated to the Greek god Apollo, one of the Olympian gods in ancient Greek and Roman religion and mythology, Apollo is recognized as one of the most significant and intricate deities in Greek mythology known as the god of music, prophecy healing, and the sun. Greek temples in early Greece let the groundwork/foundation for European architecture, embodying the concept of perfection through mathematical ratios. The Greeks began this around 900 BCE, roughly 200 years after the fall of the Mycenaeans this project will be modeled after the Greek Parthenon from the classical. 480 to 323 BCE showcasing the use of Doric and ionic architectural styles in its design it will feature a pediment at the top, honoring the God Apollo along with the statue at the center of the temple entrances on all four sides and sunlight streaming through the roof in a skylight.
