Farmall H Transmission Fill Up, Belt Pulley Install, Drive Around the Woodpile

Описание к видео Farmall H Transmission Fill Up, Belt Pulley Install, Drive Around the Woodpile

The transmission/final drive cavity is filled to proper level with 80-90wt oil. The pto side pulley sump is common to the transmission but it has its own fill plug and drain. To ensure it is filled to capacity, the first two quarts are dumped in that compartment. If the transmission level falls for any particular reason in the future, this will ensure the pto side drive will hopefully maintain its level for safe operation. Though it is common to the tranny housing, it has a raised portion that will hold oil in its semi-private reservoir as the final drives level lowers.....but it has to start out full.
The belt pulley is necessary because this old gal is going to see duty on the flat belt drive buzz saw. The bad thing about that is the pulley is the old fibre type and if left to the weather it will deteriorate within a few years. So the tractor has to be kept under roof, or the pulley must be kept protected from the elements. Well, I guess I need a bigger shed then.
A quick trip around the wood pile to get a good sloshing of the new rear end lubricant....and to make sure all surfaces of the freshly washed interior has its chance for a light coating of oil rounds out the short video. Then a moments pontification of what's in store for this tractor in the near future. I DID get it out of sequence though....the NEXT thing on the list is to narrow up the rear hoof prints. I literally hate those wheels being out so far, so those puppies are gonna get slid in to until the tip of the rear axle is flush (or thereabouts) with the outer surface of the rear rubber.
All in all, this is just a lackadaisical, laid back, simple minded and easy to produce video that's just adding to the list of minor things that have to be done to get an old tractor up and running that's been sitting for an extended period. Well they ALL don't need to have the extensive list of things done in this series....just the 'special' ones.
Hope you enjoy the trip around the wood pile.
