富山・越中八尾の散策：おわら風の盆のまちの日常

富山県富山市八尾の散策。富山駅から電車で約30分。
八尾の町は、江戸時代初期に聞名寺の門前町として発展した。かつては富山や飛騨との交易や養蚕業で栄えた拠点であるとともに、近隣の農山村の日常生活の場にもなっていた。石畳が敷かれた諏訪町本通りと白壁の町並みからは、昔の風情を感じることができる。
毎年9月1日から3日間開催される「おわら風の盆」は江戸時代より続く伝統的な行事として有名。越中おわら節の旋律の中で、踊り手たちが情緒豊かな踊りを見せる。

Yatsuo developed in the early Edo period as the gate town of Monmyoji Temple. It used to be a prosperous base for trading with Toyama and Hida and for sericulture, as well as a place for daily life in the neighboring villages. The stone-paved main street of Suwa-machi and its white-walled rows of houses offer a taste of the old days.
The "Owara Kaze no Bon Festival," held for three days from September 1st every year, is famous as a traditional event that has continued since the Edo period. Dancers perform an emotionally rich dance to the melody of the Etchu Owara Bushi.
