Varayal Sri Kurikilal Varadaini Devi Nagaraja Nagayakshi Temple near Mananthavadi is a famous temple in Kerala which cures Kalasarpayoga in horoscope. Goddess Varadaini, the Bhaktavatsala and Adiparashakti, the Naga king and the Naga yakshi are worshiped with equal importance in this temple, which is as old as Vedic times.

At the time of Daksha Yaga, after turning the sacrificial land towards Nasha , the Goddess came to rest in Varayal. That is how the spirit of the Goddess arose here. At the end of the Dwaparayuga, during Balarama's incarnation, when the Kaurava-Pandava war was going on, Balarama left for a pilgrimage saying that he could not see the war. During the pilgrimage, Varayala Sri Kurikilal came to the temple and performed darshan and meditated on the nearby Arayalthara. As Balabhadra, an incarnation of the great Naga Ananta, resided, the full spirit of Ananta resided in this temple.

For the good luck of the child, the couple eats a roll of oat in the middle of the Naga king and the Naga yakshi. Then a snake sacrifice is performed and seven generations of snake dosha are invoked and changed. After having children, they bring the child with them and perform the secret ritual. In this way, couples who have been childless for 18 years have children. Those who delay in getting married, come to this temple regardless of caste and religion and fill the rice balls with turmeric and perform the special 'Vivahadoshanivaranahoma'. Through this, Mangalyam is held for children with Chovvadosha and Jataka dosha. By stuffing sesame seeds in the naga's feet here, generational miseries end and prosperity and wealth are attained.

In the temple of Varadaini Amma, Melshanti kneads 34 types of coconuts and recites predictions of results according to astrology for the problems of the devotees. Poomadal is an offering made by the devotees to the Goddess for healing and achieving the purpose. Even the cancer of the devotees has been changed by performing Poomadal here. The Valiyavattalam Gurisi performed at Devi Nata also removes enemy evil and evil eye from the devotees.
