A pair of giant pandas gifted to Hong Kong by Beijing were seen behaving energetically in front of cameras and crowds during a media preview at the park on December 2, 2024. They will be ready to greet the public at their new home in Ocean Park on December 8, 2024 after two months in quarantine. The adult bears, male An An and female Ke Ke, are both five years old – the equivalent of 15 human years. The bears were gifted to the city by Beijing on July 1 to mark the 27th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to Chinese sovereignty.
