"Full Stop (And Long Horn Blast) On Schuyler Street!" NYSW Utica NY

NYS&W trainmen need to be alert on Utica NY's Schuyler Street for road traffic, autos parked too close to the tracks and pedestrians. They also have to keep a keen eye out to ensure that crossing flashing signals are working. If not, they have to stop and either wait for the signals to come on or flag the crossing.

This is what happened on the Nov 29, 2023 as the engineer stopped his train just before the intersection of Court & Schuyler Streets. Eventually, the crossing signal came on and the train proceeded, with the hogger sounding an especially long final warning blast of the horn.

This video captures that event and follows the train a bit up Schuyler St, along Utica's Arterial (NYS Routes 5, 8 & 12), passing the Upper Main Street Clayville crossing, scooting by Summit Rd, Cassville and then at Paris Station.

The video concludes with the train heading north on Schuyler at the end of the workday. Another "stop, wait & proceed" situation is captured in this segment as well.
